ExfoliKate

Funny thing this week. I scheduled to write about the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate today without knowing that I was going to meet her last night!

Sephora at the Glendale Americana had this mini event going on that featured Kate Somerville’s newest addition to her product line, and she actually showed up and met with everyone…how cool is that!

So back to the ExfoliKate >> GLOWING results!

Every time I use this product, I usually walk my dog after.(It’s just a routine thing: get up, brush teeth, wash face, walk dog, get ready, etc.).

So as I’m walking my dog, I’m not supposed to, but I can not stop touching my face. It feels so smooth and I honestly believe everyone driving by can also tell just how beautiful my skin feels and looks.

Now Kate Somerville is preh-tee popular amongst celebrities. And her procedures and treatments are all the rage. So to have a mini session at home with her products feels a bit luxurious. I really like using the ExfoliKate and see results instantly. Products from her line are a bit pricey but even a sample portion can last you for a while so as they say “It’s an investment for your face”. (I don’t really know who they are, but I’m sure I’ve heard that before, right?)

The actual product is green, has mini beads throughout for exfoliation. But you don’t just scrub and rinse. You are supposed to leave on your face for 2 minutes so that the enzymes can do their work and leave you RADIANT!

Kate Somerville and Me!

Why do I look so nervous?! Kate Somerville looks gorgeous and she complimented me on my outfit…little did she know my jeans felt super tight and my shirt…ugh…donating to the Goodwill.

Purity Cleanser by Philosophy

18 Apr

Look Folks! I’m getting old.

The wrinkles around my eyes are becoming more visible and this past weekend my sister told me I had two gray hairs.

Oy vey! Just give me the walker already and I’ll meet you at Coco’s Restaurant.

On another note, let me tell you what’s been my dilemma lately: non makeup remover cleansers.

I have a lot to do during the day and I don’t want to spend an hour getting ready for bed.

I don’t want to clean the makeup around my eyes, then wash my face then still clean the makeup around my eyes.

And what’s worse is that with every rub to my eye as I’m trying to get the makeup off, I feel like I’m adding more wrinkles to my face!

Which brings me to another subject: Purity Cleanser by Philosophy. I used to be such a fan of this line, and still am but I’ve been playing around with a lot of other products.

So as I’m trying to take my makeup off last nite, I remembered that my Purity Cleanser did so instantly!

It was gentle on my face, cleansed my face and removed my makeup with ease. The best thing about it was that it lasted me for so long!

I would get the travel size Purity which only costs $10 and that baby would last me for about 2-3 months because you don’t need to apply so much.

The Purity line has grown to include a foaming cleanser and wipes, which are just the most functional thing because it’s a cleanser and makeup remover in one wipe!

Ahhh to be young again.

LUSH Haul

2 Apr

There comes a time in my life when I decide to stroll down through Old Town Pasadena and make my way into the Lush store. And every time I do, I get suckered into spending all my money!

Well it’s not really their fault.

I mean it’s not their fault that their products have just the coolest names and are made with natural ingredients and smell refreshing and leave your skin oh so soft! It is not their fault that I can’t say no to every cool thing they want to show me. It’s not their fault that I have no self-discipline.

Ah but last time I was able to hold my own. And even though the friendly employee persuaded me into purchasing the entire store, I left with three very necessary products for my face:

angels on bare skin lush

Angels on Bare Skin: This is a gentle cleanser that has ground almond throughout so it makes it easy to exfoliate without it being harsh on the skin. I bought a quarter of a pound and I feel like this is going to last me forever as you do not need to get so much. A pinch is what I get, dab a bit of water and then gently scrub my face. It is not a makeup remover so I usually do that first (remove my makeup), then wash my face. It leaves your skin very soft and smooth. According to the web site, rose and lavender are added to soothe and help balance out combination skin, which makes it ideal for all skin types.

Breath of Fresh Air: After I wash my face with Angels on Bare Skin, I spritz some Breath of Fresh Air on my face. It contains fresh seawater, sea weed and aloe vera for a refreshing and nourishing treat for your face. To tighten pores, you can let air dry but I usually follow with the moisturizer below.

Vanishing Cream: This product was a bit pricey ($40) for me at that moment, but a little definitely goes a long way! So I know I got my money’s worth. It’s very light and leaves your skin so smooth. The web site notes that it is one of their most popular products and made with lavender absolute (for balancing), witch haze (pore-tightening and helps with eliminating blemishes) and grape seed oil (to soften the skin).

So this has been my morning and nite routine since. And I love touching my face after because it is extremely soft! It always feels good to know you are putting natural ingredients to take care of your skin and with Lush’s ample supply of nourishing roducts, you can take care of your skin and target any problems for a reasonable price.

Yes to Carrots Body Butter

29 Jan

I’ve been a bit curious to try this brand and it’s funny that I was just talking about this with a friend.  Next day after the conversation, I walked into a Walgreens and Yes to Carrots! brand was ‘buy one, get one half off’.

So of course, I picked out a product for myself and decided to get this body butter for the BF, who has very dry, itchy skin –  so that it makes him irritably uncomfortable. For a while, we were using Dream Cream from Lush and it really was moisturizing but we ran out and the nearest location is sometimes a bit too far.
We are always trying new products and this really stood out because it said it contained pumpkin, sweet potato, carrots and dead sea minerals.  I wanna say that I almost purchased this product because it sounded good; I have never came across a product with those ingredients, so I was happy to drive back home with this product.

The body butter does not leave a greasy feeling; it leaves a soft finish and the BF is enjoying it.  I truly enjoy the smell; it’s a bit powdery but mild.
